Lone working
Check in, tell someone where you are and what to do if you cannot.
Working alone Applies to: anyone who works alone or out of sight of others at [site or company]. What you must do 1. Tell [name or role] where you are going, what you will do and when you expect to finish. 2. Check in at [times or intervals] by [phone, radio or app]. 3. Do not do high risk tasks alone: [list, for example working at height, confined spaces, hot work]. 4. If you miss a check in, [name or role] will call you, then [next step, for example send someone, call the owner or the police]. 5. If you feel unsafe, leave and tell [name or role]. Why: help takes longer to arrive when nobody knows you need it. By ticking you confirm that you have read and understood this notice.
A starting point, not legal advice or a safety standard. Fill in the [square brackets] and check it against your own risk assessment and the law that applies to you.
